Roger Beal's new toy

Legendary surfer/shaper Roger Beal grew up in La Jolla and made a career shaping for G&S, Rusty and his own label. As a La Jolla kid he grew up body womping. Since he moved to the Boston area he let that passion slide. After hanging with us for a few days his passion has been re-stoked!

Roger his lovely wife Lisa and their son Tony have spent the last few days taking care of the misfit pics crew and myself as we toured Maine, Mass and Rhode Island showing off Manufacturing Stoke. As a token of our appreciation we gave Roger a handplane to get back into bodysurfing. He was like a little kid at Christmas. So stoked to have spent time with him and his lovely family. Big ups to Mama Beal's cooking!!!

Going to Grain! 9.10.11

I will be there this weekend representing *enjoy at the Grain Surf Re-Evolution event. Come on out and demo some handplanes, surfboards, alaia's you name it! It will be fun. Also your ticket includes a viewing of Pierce Kavanagh's Manufacturing Stoke and Cyrus Sutton's Under the Sun.

Here is some info on the event.

"In an an effort to top our fall parties of the past, we're teaming up with Korduroy.TV to present, Surf Re-Evolution, a day of sun, surf, art and music, Saturday September 10th 2011
We've selected a group of innovators, shapers and forward thinkers to be part of the day as our guests and exhibitors.  Everyone involved will be sharing their craft either in the water, back at the Grain shop on a farm in York, Maine, on the walls of a hay barn-turned-art-gallery, or during the festivities throughout the evening.
Both “Manufacturing Stoke” by Pierce Kavanagh and “Under the Sun” by Cyrus Sutton will be premiered during the evening festivities.
The event will take place at our shop nestled in the farmlands of rural Maine and at nearby Long Sands Beach.
Check back to our blog for updates.  See you on the 10th!

Mark Bromley and Pierce Kavanagh

Mark and Pierce are a great combo. They have been friends forever. Pierce loves to ride the womp and Mark loves to shoot it. It's shots like these that show off the synergy in their friendship and their passions. Keep it up guys!

Demo Available at Patagonia Cardiff

Stop by the Patagonia Cardiff shop and take it out for a few barrels. It needs water time just like the rest of us.

Pierce Kavanagh

A cool shot that showed up on FaceBook. I like this perspective from down the beach and how you can see Pierce's focus on the close out barrel even with all the speed bumps in his way.

Quality Peoples Brochure

Our buddy Brian Lam is a huge( and I mean huge) supporter of us. He has helped us so much in the past and we are forever grateful. While he was in Mexico he hooked up with Ed Fladung of Quality Peoples and gave him his first handplane he ever got from us as a gift. Today Brian sent me this little surprise, a shot from the QP  catalog complete with a shot of that very handplane. So stoked. Thanks Brian and Ed for supporting us!
