The colors of the Ethiopian flag. Kipp's daughters, 5 and 7, were born in Eithiopia. They are very much involved in this project and love handplanes. Kipp made this one as a tribute to them and their heritage. Enjoy!

Enjoy The Ride - by David Gray and Ed Lewis

David Gray and I went to shoot Chris Del Moro last Friday and we ended up missing him. As we drove back home we saw this left and David spun around and he told me to suit up. It was pretty good sized and throwing. I was a little hesitant at first and then decided what the heck. I had all my gear, why not? This was the second wave of the session. I got this, hit the bottom and went right in. I was sort of freaked. You can see it in my face.  David has a way of getting you to do things you normally wouldn't. He is like surfing viagra. He showed me some shots and got me back out again. It was a blast! Best tube I've ever had. It looked like it was 20 foot from the inside laying down.  The GoPro footage was cool but the stills I have in my mind are priceless.

Thanks David for hooking me up with the shots. Seriously if you ever need someone to nail a session with great shots go to him. He has the magic touch for sure.  Again thanks to Rick at GoPro for the camera!!!!

"Gordo, Starbuck & Dicky Mo" by John Culqui

Latest artist version by John Culqui came out beautifully! John has become a big fan of our handpanes and wanted his own to paint up. He did this one as a tribute to Moby Dick. Pretty classic.

If you'd like your own blank canvas let us know. Enjoy!

Ryan Mcbrides Plane

Ryan is an avid body surfer. He and his buddies use paulownia wood planes back in Florida. He found our site and sent us a picture of a Christenson fish that he loved. It looked just like this but a Quad. He asked us if we could make a handplane that would be a mini me of that board. We took one look at the photo and said SURE!  It took a bit to get this together but we are super stoked on it. I wish it was mine! The fins where a fun touch and Ryan is going to give us some feedback as to how they work.

Ryan is also the first one to own one of our new board bags we are making out of our friend Lisa Hetmin's left over fabric from her Cinch Sack product.  A wetsuit changing mat and bag in one. Which is really cool. Lisa owns the local Swell Stuff shop that specializes in wetsuit repair and sews all of our handles for us. You rock Lisa!!!

All and all we are so happy with how this project turned out. Thanks to Ryan for supporting us and Lisa for her never ending generosity.

Thanks to everyone who follows us and all who have supported us along the way. We couldn't do this with out you!

Enjoy.

Blue Mexi Blanket

New in the shop. Blue Mexi Blanket. For those cold, hollow winter days. It makes me warm and fuzzy inside just looking at it. Enjoy.

Skye Walker - Painting a Handplane

Painting a handplane from Skye Walker on Vimeo.

Our friend Skye Walker did an art project with us. This handplane will be a part of a show that we are doing for Surfing Heritage Foundation to raise money for the foundation. This handplane will be displayed at an art show and then auctioned off with a group of others.

Give it up to Skye for working with us and doing such a great job on the art and video. THANK YOU SKYE!!!!  You're amazing.

If you want him to paint you a plane contact us.

The Greener Blue

We are making a new model for our friends over at The Greener Blue. They are a website devoted to surf culture and ocean related environmental issues as well as a showcase for sustainable and eco-friendly surf products. You'll be able to buy them from ther site and ours once their shop is up and running. Their new site will be launching soon. We can't wait.

The Greener Blue logo was designed by our friend and fellow blog master Glenn Sakamoto, creator of www.liquidsaltmag.com. Enjoy.
